Full Time Staff

General Manager – Christie Heslip: Christie comes to us from Chesapeake, ambulance Virginia. She has an extensive background in fitness including a B.S. in Exercise Science from Virginia Tech. She has been certified through ACE as an Aerobic Instructor and viagra without prescription drug Personal Trainer, is AFAA certified as an Aerobic/Step Instructor and is a certified Spinning Instructor. Christie has been in the fitness industry since 1986 and has worked in some form of management since 1990. Along with her role as General Manager, Christie continues to teach aerobic and cycle classes. Her duties include overseeing the daily operations of the facility, which includes working closely with the Board of Directors in making decisions, hiring and supervising the staff, teaching aerobic and cycle classes and coordinating the cycle program. Christie enjoys all forms of outdoor activities such as jogging, road biking, swimming, rock climbing and water skiing. When she is not working, she likes to spend time relaxing at her and Lewis’ lake house on Claytor Lake.

Assistant Manager – Michaela Galya: Michaela is a native of Shelton,Connecticut. She moved to Virginia in 1989, seeking a more relaxed lifestyle. She lives in Riner with her husband, Frank. Michaela has been teaching all styles of aerobic and fitness classes since 1985. She continues to teach all levels of aerobic classes as well as Cycle Reebok. She is certified through ACE and AFAA as a Fitness Instructor. As the Assistant Manager her duties include bookkeeping, supervising staff, assisting with the coordination of the aerobics program, and supervising the aerobics program. In her spare time Michaela grooms dogs (a profession she has had for nearly 30 years) and enjoys running and swimming. She and Frank enjoy going to the movies, working out together and spending time at home with their three dogs.

Director of Group Fitness – Laurie Maddox: Laurie lives in Blacksburg but has roots in Strasburg, Va. Growing up in a small town she was involved in as many sports as possible but excelled in Basketball and Track (hurdles). With her passion in fitness she received her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Radford University and her Master’s degree in Health Promotions from Virginia Tech. In the spring of 2009 Laurie completed her internship at The Weight Club and has been here ever since. She has worked the front desk and continues to teach classes, personal train and assist Michaela in the office. When she is not at work she is spending time with her husband and dog (Sophie the boxer).

Director of Personal Training – DeWayne Moore: DeWayne Moore has been a personal trainer since 2005, and during that time he has worked with numerous clients at in Blacksburg, VA, Richmond, VA and Cary, NC. He is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and specializes in corrective exercise. His focus is functional movement, which assesses a person’s kinetic patterns and determines muscle imbalances which could potentially lead to injury. DeWayne designs workout regimes to correct those problems and to increase functionality not only for fitness, but for everyday activities as well. Once functional equilibrium is established, he guides clients through performance training designed to teach them how to use their muscles more efficiently, gaining the greatest possible response and benefit from their time spent in the weight room. These abilities are invaluable for all training focuses—from weight loss to sports—and a certified personal trainer such as DeWayne is capable of maximizing a client’s potential for growth and learning.

Child Care Coordinator – Donna Brillhart: Donna was born in Montgomery County where she resides with her husband and two sons. As Child Care Coordinator, Donna oversees all operations within the child care facility. Donna loves children and has a special relationship with the children she cares for. When Donna is not working, she enjoys lifting weights with her husband and spending time with her boys.

Supplement Manager – Kurt Weidner: Kurt joined our team from in 2005 from New York. He is a certified fitness trainer through International Sports Sciences Association and is currently working on a certification for specialist iin performance nutrition. Kurt has been involved in sports his entire life, playing Division II Hockey and has coached soccer, hockey and track in New England and Prep school. Kurt has been competing as a natural body builder since 1997 and has held a WNBF pro card since 2003, competing in over 20 drug tested competitions. Kurt specializes in prepping athletes for physique competitions. His own thirst for knowledge in the realm of nutrition and supplementation for optimal performance enables him to serve as sales/inventory manager for supplements.
